The Story of Animo Locke II

On Tuesday, September 11, 2007, the Los Angeles Unified School District made history when they approved the motion to transform Alain Leroy Locke High School into a Green Dot Charter High School.

Animo Locke II will be one of 5 new freshmen schools. Each year, Animo Locke II will grow by one grade level until it is a full four-year high school.

Animo Locke II will...
- Be located on Locke's campus
- Have only 150 freshmen, no sophomores, juniors, or seniors
- Have a dedicated, hard-working staff, ready to give all students a college-prep education

At the beginning of 2008, Mrs. Rachelle McClendon-Alexander, at the time the Assistant Principal of Animo South Los Angeles Charter High School, became the princiapl of Animo Locke II. She has assembled an incredible team to make Animo Locke II a succcessful high quality college-prep high school.
