Parent Coordinator - Animo Ralph Bunche

Green Dot Public Schools, the leading public schools operator in Los Angeles and an important catalyst for education reform in the State of California, is looking for a Parent Coordinator to help lead its efforts to generate excitement and awareness about transforming public schools throughout the City of Los Angeles.  This position will be based at our Animo Ralph Bunche High School.

Under the direct supervision of the Office Manager, the Parent Coordinator will provide administrative support to the school's front office.  The pay rate for this position is $10 - $20 per hour, based on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a liaison between the school and families.
  • Answer telephone: provide information, take and relay messages, transfer calls.
  • Make phone calls to parents to communicate important information.
  • Filing and copying.
  • Maintain student files.
  • Coordinate and assist with lunch service. Call and schedule parent volunteers.
  • Greet visitors to the school; determine the nature of their business and direct visitors to destination.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Track volunteer hours.

REQUIRES KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Spanish - speaking skills are a must. Reading and writing are preferred.
  • Green Dot and school site general policies, procedures and mission statement (acquire within a reasonable amount of time).
  • MS Office products such as MS Word and Excel.
  • School office operations.

REQUIRES ABILITY TO:

  • Work effectively and collaboratively in a "start-up" environment.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written forums.
  • Using excellent interpersonal skills interact effectively with others.
  • Handle a variety of tasks. Set priorities to successfully complete them.
  • Complete assigned tasks and projects in a timely and effective manner.
  • Exercise discretion in the dissemination of information.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 1 year in an administrative support capacity in an office environment.  Prior experience within a school setting is desired. 

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • A valid Driver's License and clean record.
  • All candidates must pass drug screening and background checks.
  • Candidates must be CPR and First-Aid certified.
