Hello! My name is Brenton Aitken (Mr. B), and I teach English 10at Locke High School. I didn't end up at Locke by chance or by default. I'm here for one reason: for the kids. I believe that change is the sacred power of youth. Our children will inherit our world- for better, for worse- and they must have the necessary tools to shape it. They will need to be thoughtful, critical, analytical, vocal, relfective, positive, determined, courageous, and (among other things) educated.

Some people would say that I work for a company. Others might say that I work for the public. I say that I work for my students. My accountability, above all else, is to the kids in my classroom. I believe that each of them, regardless of circumstance, deserves to hold the keys to this world in their hands.

So, when the days are rough, the nights are long, and I'm (physically and mentally) exhausted, I think of the one reason I'm teaching: not for me, not for my superiors, not for society-
always for the kids.
