Hello! My name is Grace Yun and I will be the Special Education Coordinator for Animo Locke II. I was born in Northern Virginia, an area right outside of Washington, D.C. and attended the University of Virginia for college. During my freshman year of college, I traveled to Camden, New Jersey to volunteer as a teacher’s assistant. This was the first time I came face-to-face with the sad, startling truth that all children in the United States of America do not receive excellent, college-preparatory educations. A few years later, I decided to move to Los Angeles to join the faculty at Markham Middle School to do my part to fix the education problem. In a short amount of time, I quickly realized that talented, promising, and intelligent young people were being cheated out of a quality education because adults were failing to hold students accountable and were not maintaining high expectations for their students. I believe that a strong, quality education is a team effort. It requires everyone (parents, teachers, administrators, and staff) to be centered on student success. At Animo Locke II, we are all committed to pushing our students to achieve academic excellence and we won’t stop until it’s accomplished!
