I grew up in the suburbs of Southern California mostly unaware of Los Angeles culture until I began studying Social work, Spanish, and Sociology at Azusa Pacific University.  During my four years I spent a semester living in South Central studying sociology and interning for a small charter school, a summer studying Spanish in the Dominican Republic, a year working for the Multi Ethnic Programs office, and several years earning a Bachelors in Social Work.  Though my skills and passion for social work are still with me I have found my place in education, and am now teaching as well as working on a Masters in Urban Education at Loyola Marymount University.  I am also a second year corps member of the national organization Teach for America.

I am a second year Spanish 1 teacher with a lot of excitement for working along side an amazing staff at Ánimo Locke 2.  Now starting my first year at Locke I am looking forward to getting to know each of my students individually and working with them to reach their academic and personal goals-no matter how challenging.  Teaching Spanish is a personal joy as well as a growing experience that I intend to share with my students by focusing on reading, writing, speaking, listening, culture, and current social problems that Spanish speakers face.  I have high expectations for each of my students and look forward to a rigorous year with them.
