INFORMATION FOR PARENTS OF CURRENT GREEN DOT NEW YORK CHARTER SCHOOL STUDENTS:

We have gotten off to a great start with our incredible staff doing excellent work and our students learning.  As we continue to make progress, there are a few reminders that we would like to mention:

1.      Our phone number is (718) 292-6543.  Ms. Marin is our office manager.  She is available at that number from 8:30am to 4pm.  Before 8:30am or after 4pm, you can email akapadia@greendotny.org, or call (646) 753-0031 to reach Mr. Kapadia.  To reach Ms. McGuinness, you can call (917) 673-8126 or email bmcguinness@greendotny.org

2.      All families are expected to volunteer 15 hours throughout the course of the year.  Please see the Parents Section for more information.

3.      Our teachers’ gradebooks are online.  Using a program called PowerSchool, parents can look up grades and attendance for their child. Students and parents can access PowerSchool through this website.  User names and passwords were mailed home in September.

4.      Please make sure you read the Student, Family, and Educator Handbook.  If you do not have a Handbook at home, please go to the Parents Section of this website.  The Handbook includes useful information like our grading policy, discipline policy, list of courses for all four years, academic calendar, and weekly bell schedule.

5.      Teachers hold office hours weekly to provide students with extra help and tutoring support from 4:00-5:30pm.  Just as they can assign detention, teachers can mandate that certain students attend office hours because they need extra help.  For a list of office hours, check out the attachment below called After School Activities.

6. For parents interested in reading New York City's letter regarding the H1N1 virus, please see the attachment at the bottom of this page.
