Marco Petruzzi – Chief Executive Officer
Marco Petruzzi is the Chief Executive Officer of Green Dot Public Schools. He originally joined Green Dot as President and Chief Operating Officer in January 2007 and was promoted to CEO in October 2008, succeeding Green Dot Founder Steve Barr, who remains a member of The Board. During Marco's tenure, Green Dot won Los Angeles School Board approval to rejuvenate Locke High School in Watts and began operating it in fall 2008, restructuring it into eight smaller, college-prep schools. Green Dot also established itself as a leading agent of reform, creating a world-class school and instructional leadership model as well as an efficient central office to support the schools in many areas including accounting, human resources, knowledge management, information technology, and real estate development. The Locke Transformation Project is the realization of Marco's work on Green Dot's Board of Directors, where he served from 2002 until 2006, in which he led a pro bono Bain & Company consulting project to develop a model for the transformation of overcrowded, under-performing urban public schools.
Prior to joining Green Dot, Marco founded r3 school solutions, an organization that provided management and administrative services to charter management organizations. Prior to founding r3 school solutions, he was a Partner at Bain & Company, a global management consulting firm. Marco has fifteen years of consulting experience working with top management of major international groups in corporate and product-market strategy, channel management, pricing strategy, commercial organization, operations, R&D management and supply chain management assignments, in the USA, South America, and Europe. Prior to joining Bain & Company, Marco also worked at McKinsey & Co. and for Enichem Americas, a petrochemical trading company based in New York. Marco earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering at Columbia University, where he also earned an M.B.A. He has extensive international experience, having lived in six different countries, and is fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. Marco, an active community member, is married and has two children, both attending public schools. He is also the Venice chapter president of the Los Angeles Parents Union.
Dr. Cristina de Jesus - President and Chief Academic Officer
Dr. Cristina de Jesus is Green Dot's President and Chief Academic Officer. She currently oversees all academic programs, curriculum development, human capital and training programs for administrators and teachers. She previously served for two years as Vice President of Curriculum and Instruction, and for four years as the founding principal at Ànimo Inglewood Charter High School, Green Dot's second school. Prior to joining Green Dot, Cristina was an English and History teacher for seven years in the Santa Monica/Malibu School District. While in Santa Monica, she earned National Board Certification in Early Adolescent/English Language Arts. She has earned a Masters of Education, a Masters of Education Administration, and recently earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from UCLA.
Sabrina Ayala – Chief Financial Officer
Sabrina Ayala is the Chief Financial Officer of Green Dot Public Schools and is responsible for managing all financial aspects, including financial strategy, budgets, cash management, accounts receivables, accounts payable, facility financing and purchasing. She brings ten years of Wall Street experience to Green Dot. Prior to joining Green Dot in 2006, Sabrina was an Institutional Equity Trader with Merrill Lynch, a Valuation and Compensation Consultant with Stern Stewart & Co. and an Investment Banker with Kidder, Peabody & Co. All were based in New York City. Her areas of expertise include natural resources, cyclical chemical industries, consumer products, REITS and arbitrage. Sabrina, an Eli Lilly Scholar, received her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in 2002 with majors in Finance and Entrepreneurship. Her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, with minors in Accounting and Sports Management, is from Northern Illinois University, where she graduated with honors, cum laude and Outstanding Woman Graduate of the Year.
Megan Quaile – Vice President of Education
Megan Quaile became the Vice President of Education in June 2009. She began her career at Green Dot in August 2007 as a Cluster Director responsible for overseeing the leadership teams at the five Jefferson Schools. Before joining Green Dot, Quaile worked as Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Civitas Schools, the Chicago-based Education Management Organization that operates the two high school and two elementary school campuses serving 2200 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12. Quaile began her work with CICS by serving as the founding principal of CICS Northtown Academy Campus, the first CICS high school opened with a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Prior to her role with CICS, Quaile served for three years as the principal of an urban private school. Her educational experiences further include positions as Assistant Principal, English Teacher and coach. She has also served as an elected member of the Chicago Archdiocesan High School Leadership Council, President of Women's Schools Together, and administrative representative on DePaul University's Professional Education Council. Quaile has earned a Master's in Education from DePaul University where she is currently completing doctoral work in Educational Leadership.
Kelly Hurley – Vice President of Human Capital
Kelly Hurley currently serves as the Vice President of Human Capital at Green Dot Public Schools. In this position, he oversees employee recruitment, personnel issues of certificated, classified and home office employees as well as labor negotiations. Prior to this role, he served as the cluster director (area superintendent) overseeing the transformation of Locke High School from April 2007 until June 2011. His role as a cluster director was to provide bi-weekly coaching and monthly professional development to principals and assistant principals as well as to ensure the success of each of the eight small high schools in the Locke transformation.
Before joining Green Dot, Kelly began his educational career in the Long Beach Unified School District as a teacher in the fall of 1985. After serving twelve years as a teacher, counselor, and assistant principal, he was promoted to principal in the fall of 1997. During his tenure as a middle and high school principal, he was asked to take over two highly toxic schools to renew the culture and climate at both sites.
Dr. Kevin Keelen - Vice President of Employee Solutions
Dr. Kevin Keelen is Green Dot’s Vice President of Employee Solutions, overseeing Knowledge Management, Human Resources, and a variety of other projects and initiatives. Kevin came to Green Dot in 2009 as the Director of Knowledge Management. Before joining Green Dot, Kevin was the Director of Curriculum for Revolution Prep. During his time at Revolution Prep, he wrote and edited seven books and six online courses, including CAHSEE Fundamentals, ACT Online, and Algebra Readiness. Kevin has also worked in higher education in student affairs and as an adjunct faculty member. Kevin earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership from UCLA in 2009 with the publication of Educational Plans in Achieving Student Transfer Goals.
William Campbell - Vice President of Technology
William Campbell serves as Green Dot’s Vice President of Technology. In this role, he oversees the technology infrastructure of all Green Dot locations, manages the district website, and is leading a multiyear project to modernize all Green Dot campuses to meet the needs of 21st century educational programs. Bill brings over fifteen years of experience in K-12 schools leading technology departments in both the academic and operational areas. Bill joined Green Dot in 2012. Bill received his MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management, and his Chief Business Officer certification from the University of Southern California.
Before joining Green Dot, Bill began his career in technology and education in several school districts. Bill has served as the Director of Technology for the Racine and Appleton school districts in Wisconsin, as well as the Director of Technology for the Norwalk, California district and Mendocino County Office of Education.
Chris Humphreys - Vice President of Finance & Business Affairs
Chris Humphreys joined Green Dot in 2012 and serves as Vice President of Finance & Business Affairs. He oversees budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis for Green Dot’s schools and home office departments. He also leads a team of professionals who manage purchasing, food service, transportation, and maintenance, expediting solutions to operational issues so administrators can focus on educating students.
Before joining Green Dot, Chris managed operations and corporate transactions for News Corp Digital Media, a division of News Corporation. Chris has over ten years of experience as an attorney and business manager in fields ranging from digital media and technology, corporate litigation, and database development. He earned an MBA from UCLA Anderson (with an emphasis in finance), a JD from Indiana University Maurer School of Law (where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies), and a BA from the University of Tennessee (where he majored in Opera and Theater).
Dr. Gordon Gibbings - Cluster Director
Dr. Gordon Gibbings is a Cluster Director currently coaching the principals of six Green Dot charter schools serving the Los Angeles communities of Venice, South Central and Boyle Heights. As Cluster Director he also oversees the Green Dot Administrator in Residence (AIR) program—a rigorous, year-long residency program designed to prepare aspiring educational leaders for assistant principal and principal positions within Green Dot charter schools. He also serves as a member of the negotiations team for management, which has successfully negotiated collective bargaining agreements for the last several years.
Prior to becoming a Cluster Director at Green Dot, Gordon served as the Principal of Animo South Los Angeles Charter High School (ASLA). During his tenure as principal, ASLA earned a maximum accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and was awarded by U.S. News and World Report with a prestigious Silver Medal for being a high-performing, college-preparatory high school. During his time as the principal of ASLA, Gordon also served as a Green Dot Mentor Principal for new school principals.
Before joining Green Dot Public Schools, Gordon served as an assistant principal and a Testing and Intervention Coordinator for David Starr Jordan High School in Long Beach California. Gordon began his teaching career as a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Florence Bixby Elementary School in Long Beach, California. During his first two years of teaching he was a member of Teach For America. Gordon earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, his Masters from the University of California at Berkeley, and his Doctorate from the University of Southern California.
Annette Gonzalez - Cluster Director
Annette Gonzalez is a Cluster Director currently coaching six Green Dot principals in the Lennox, Inglewood and South Los Angeles communities. Annette works with four Green Dot high schools and currently supervises two new middle schools that opened in the Fall of 2011 through the Public School Choice process on the former campus of Henry Clay Middle School. Prior to becoming a Cluster Director at Green Dot, Annette was the principal of Ánimo Inglewood Charter High School where she was also an Assistant Principal and the founding ninth grade English teacher.
Annette began her teaching career as an English language arts and History teacher at Lincoln Middle School in the Santa Monica- Malibu Unified School District. In addition to teaching sixth grade, Annette was Nationally Board Certified in 2001 in Early Adolescent English Language Arts. Annette earned her undergraduate degrees in English and History from the University of California, Riverside.
Chad Soleo - Cluster Director
Chad Soleo is a Cluster Director currently coaching six Green Dot principals across the Alain Leroy Locke Family of Schools and at the Ánimo College Preparatory Academy on David Starr Jordan’s campus. Both Locke and Jordan were the lowest performing high schools in LAUSD. Green Dot began transforming these high schools in 2008 and 2011 respectively. Prior to becoming a Cluster Director at Green Dot, Chad was the founding principal of Ánimo Pat Brown Charter High School and an assistant principal at Locke. Ánimo Pat Brown became a California Distinguished High School under his leadership. Chad also supported Green Dot in opening its New York School in partnership with the United Federation of Teachers.
Chad began his teaching career as an English language arts teacher at Alain Leroy Locke High School through Teach for America. In addition to teaching English at Locke, Chad ran a college preparatory program that lead to a significant increase in college awareness and graduation rates. While teaching, Chad pursued his graduate degree in Secondary Education at Loyola Marymount University.
Chad has also taught within the charter school leadership cohort for Loyola Marymount University’s School of Education administrative credentialing program. He has lead professional development in Los Angeles Unified School District, within the Southern California AVID community, and within the Teach for America organization.
Chad earned his undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Arizona.
