PMI Educational Foundation Scholarships 
The Project Management Institute Educational Foundation Academic Scholarship Program is designed to financially assist qualified applicants in obtaining degrees from accredited academic institutions of higher learning in the field of project management or any field with any relation to project management. The program is open to any student preparing to enter or already attending an accredited degree-granting college or university and pursuing a bachelor, masters or doctoral degree.The scholarships are awarded based on merit as measured by academic performance and extracurricular activities. The applicant’s intended field of study is also considered in the evaluation process with preference given to those candidates pursuing a degree in project management or a directly related field of study.

Siemen Competition
In partnership with the College Board, the Siemens Foundation established the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology and the Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement. The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to providing scholarships and increasing access to higher education for talented mathematics, science, engineering, and technology students in the United States.

Davidson Fellows Scholarship 
The Davidson Fellows Scholarship awards $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 scholarships to extraordinary young people, 18 and under, who have completed a significant piece of work. Application categories are Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Literature, Music, Philosophy and Outside the Box. Davidson Fellows are honored every year in Washington, D.C. with Congressional meetings and a special reception.

National Achievement Scholarship
The National Achievement® Scholarship Program is an academic competition established in 1964 to provide recognition for outstanding Black American high school students. Black students may enter both the National Achievement Program and the National Merit® Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) and meeting other published requirements for participation.

Miss Teenage California Scholarship Pageant

For 34 years the Miss Teenage California Program's focus has been the education of our states young women. Each year thousands in college scholarships and prizes are awarded to outstanding young women from every corner of our state. They convene for a fun-filled weekend of networking, competition, fun, and friendship. There is no swimsuit or talent competition. Students will be judged in areas of: Activities & Achievements, Poise & Personality, and Personal Appearance in  Formal Wear.

Selected from a nationwide pool of applicants, up to 40 students will become Jack Kent Cooke Scholars and have access to funding for up to 4 years for undergraduate studies.

Ron Brown Scholar Program
The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card.

Susan Bragato Scholarship 

CCSA offers five $1,500 scholarships to graduating seniors of our member schools to go to any accredited two-year or four-year public or private university or college. 
To win, the student must demonstrate:
  • A scholastic record that reflects a proven ability to succeed at a college or university level
  • Be a graduating senior from a charter high school that is a member of the California Charter Schools Association

Villanova University Presidential Scholarship

The Presidential Scholarship is a renewable, merit-based award covering full tuition, room, board, general fee, and the cost of textbooks for eight consecutive semesters. Students must be nominated by the chief academic officer of their high school (principal or guidance counselor or an official school designee). Awardees must have demonstrated academic achievement and active participation in their school and the broader civic community.

Futuro con Leche Scholarship Program

The got milk? Futuro con Leche Scholarship Program is available on a competitive basis to graduating high school seniors of Hispanic heritage. Students must write a maximum 250 word essay on, “Your high school journey and how making breakfast with milk part of your routine (or daily routine) has helped you succeed.” Awards are in the amount of $4,000.

Eligibility Criteria:  

  • Be of Hispanic heritage 
  • Be a U.S. Citizen, legal permanent resident or an eligible non-U.S. citizen

HSF/ General College Scholarships are designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree.

Eligibility criteria:  

  • Be of Hispanic heritage

  • Have plans to enroll FULL-TIME at a two or four year U.S. accredited institution

Ronald McDonald U.S. Scholarship Program

Scholarships are for students in the United States living in areas where there are participating local Ronald McDonald House Charity Chapters. Most local chapters award a minimum of $1,000. The scholarships will be applied to tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for course load. Institutions must be accredited, nonprofit two or four year college/universities of vocational/technical schools in the United States.

Eligibility Criteria:  

  • Must be a current high school senior who is eligible to attend a two or four year college, university or vocational/technical school.
  • Must be a legal U.S. resident.
  • Must be less than 21 years of age.
  • Must have a minimum 2.7 GPA.
  • Must reside within the geographic boundaries of a participating Chapter.

Milken Scholars
Milken Scholars honors exceptional young men and women based on their academic performance, community service, leadership activities and triumphs over obstacles. Milken Scholars receive financial assistance during their undergraduate careers and are eligible to receive a range of resources that includes: An annual monetary recognition award of $2,000 for each of their four years of college; Ongoing academic and career-related counseling; Assistance with career-related experiences through internships and shadowing opportunities; and A graduate fund, which assists students as they prepare for the world of work or graduate school.

College Advisors at high schools in the Los Angeles nominate students who qualify for the Milken Scholars Program. Eligibility criteria for selection for the Program are as follows:

  • Minimum grade point average of 3.6 (unweighted) or 90 in all academic high school subject areas;
  • Minimum composite SAT I Reasoning score of 1850 with results submitted for Critical Reading, Math, and Writing, or a minimum ACT score of 28;
  • Active participation in community service activities;
  • A record of leadership;
  • Financial need;
  • United States Citizenship or Permanent Residency; and
  • Admission to a four-year college or university prior to final selection.

This program, launched in partnership with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), aims to award educational grants to eligible Hispanic students pursuing higher education.

Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Scholarship Award

The Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Scholarships offer financial assistance to two graduating seniors with documented learning disabilities (LD) who are pursuing post-secondary education.

The Carson Scholars Fund

The Carson Scholars Fund (CSF) is a non-profit organization founded in 1994 by world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Benjamin S. Carson and his wife, Candy. The CSF aims to recognize and reward students in grades 4 – 11 who earn the highest level of academic achievement and also display strong humanitarian qualities. Our scholarship program is open to students in grades 4-11 who have at least a 3.75 GPA and are involved in community service.

The Edison Scholars Program

The Edison Scholars Program rewards public and private high school seniors who show potential for a successful college career and have financial need. The program supports the study of math, physics, chemistry, engineering, materials science, computer science or information systems with renewable scholarships at four-year colleges. Preference will be given to students who are first-generation college students and those who have overcome significant obstacles and challenges.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be a high school senior with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
  • Live in or attend a public or private high school in areas serviced by Southern California Edison
  • Plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study in one of the following disciplines for the entire upcoming academic year: math, physics, chemistry, engineering materials science, computer science/information systems.
  • Be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Prove financial need.

For high school seniors who excel academically in school.

Eligibility criteria:  

  • Be residents of the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico
  • Be graduating high school seniors

  • Plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire 2012-13 academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the U.S.

Dell Scholars Program

This is a program that looks beyond academic performance and grades. You don’t need the highest grades to apply. It rewards your determination to achieve great things through higher education.

Eligibility criteria:  

  • Participating in a Michael & Susan Dell Foundation approved college readiness program for a minimum of two of the last three years
  • Graduating from an accredited high school this academic year
  • Earning a minimum of a 2.4 GPA
  • Demonstrated need for financial assistance
  • Planning to enter a bachelor's degree program at an accredited higher education institution in the fall directly after your graduation from high school

California Association of Collectors Educational Scholarship Foundation

This scholarship requires a simple one-page application and an essay on "The Importance of Establishing and Maintaining Good Financial Credit During Your College Years". The scholarship is available to any California high school senior for their use at any accredited college, university, or trade school.

Gates Millennium Scholars

The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program, funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established in 1999 to provide outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian Pacific Islander American**, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in any discipline area of interest.

 

Eligibility criteria:  

  • Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American
  • Are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States
  • Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale
  • Will enroll for the first time at a U.S. located, accredited college or university
  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities
  • Meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria

The Taylor Michaels Scholarship Program, founded in 1998, is aptly named after Taylor Michaels, the inspiring Chief Operating Officer for Magic Johnson Enterprises who passed away during that year. Dream Scholarship Fund 

For AB540 Students who have successfully graduated from High School (or is within one semester of doing so), does not qualify for in-state tuition, and who intends to seek higher education at a U.S. college or university is eligible for financial assistance from the Dream Scholarship Fund. The fund’s purpose is to distribute several scholarships to offset the cost of tuition.

  • The student immigrated to the USA as a child, and is, or will be, a graduate of a High School prior to the start of college classes.
  • The student must have resided in the state in which he or she is applying for post-secondary education.
  • The student must have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • The student must apply and be accepted for admission prior to August 1 to be eligible.
  • The applicant must complete the scholarship application.

Chicano Organizing & Research in Education (CORE) is proud to present their Fifth Annual Que Llueva Café Scholarship. CORE proudly sponsors this scholarship to help undocumented students continue on their academic path. This scholarship is a response to the lack of financial assistance provided to students, who do not have the legal documentation, that attend college in the United States. In particular, we seek to support undocumented students that have met the rigorous academic requirements asked of them and hold the academic promise to achieve so much more.  Our scholarship provides financial assistance to college-bound, undocumented, Latino students across the country.

The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is offering up to $25,000 per year for 100 first-time freshman or existing college students, renewable up to four years and one additional year for those entering a qualified five-year engineering program.

The Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is sponsoring college scholarships designed to assist African- American students in attaining their goal for post-secondary education.

The East Los Angeles Community Union Scholarship

Administered by the TELACU Education Foundation, this scholarship program was created in 1983 to develop and empower new generations of leaders in the communities it serves. Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $5,000.

  • Be from a low-income family.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Attend one of our partnering colleges and universities.
  • Be enrolled full time for the entire 2010–2011 academic year.

The SAMMY 2012 Award Program recognizes outstanding scholar athletes in grade 12 from high schools throughout the contiguous United States.  Judging of the nominees will be based on five criteria: academic performance (35%), athletic excellence (35%), leadership (15%), community service (10%) and milk experience essay (5%).

The GOYA Foods Culinary Arts and Food Sciences Scholarship Program is available on a competitive basis to students entering a four-year institution as freshmen who are Culinary Arts or Food Sciences majors. Awards are in the amount of $5,000 awarded per academic year starting in 2012-2013 and are renewable for up to three additional years.

 

Eligibility criteria:

  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale
  • Be a U.S. Citizen, legal permanent resident, or eligible non-U.S. Citizen
  • Plan to enroll full-time starting in 2012-2013 in a degree seeking program with the U.S. as a Freshman at a four-year U.S. accredited institution and obtaining their 1st undergraduate degree
  • Must complete 10 hours per month of community service while in the program. This activity will be tracked by GOYA.

 U.S. Bank Internet Scholarship 

The U.S Bank Scholarship Program is available to high school seniors (graduating in the 2011-2012 school year) and college undergraduates. Winners will be selected at random.

In order to be eligible for the U.S. Bank Scholarship Program, a student must be:

  • A high school senior planning to enroll or a current college freshmen, sophomore or junior at an eligible four-year college or university participating in the U.S. Bank Student Loan Program.

Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000 each; with multiple winners to be selected.

Five Pearl Academic Scholarship

Omicron Rho Zeta will award a merit-based scholarship in the amount of $1000.00. The scholarship is designed to financially assist young African American women in the pursuit of their academic goals. The first scholarship disbursement will be awarded in Fall 2013 in the amount of $500. The second disbursement will be awarded in the Spring 2014 in the amount of $500 after proof of enrollment and official transcripts verifying a cumulative 2.8 GPA or higher have been received by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Omicron Rho Zeta Chapter. A continuing education scholarship may be available upon verification of GPA and review by scholarship committee.

Mortar Board Scholarship  

Since the inception of Mortar Board’s scholarship program over 20 years ago, more than $30,000 has been given to deserving students pursuing higher education.

The program started with a single award of $500 annually and has grown to nearly $2,000 a year - funds that can significantly impact a student’s opportunity to pursue higher education.  A LAUSD high school senior are eligible to apply for these scholarships - the only requirement is that they be working toward a degree.

Essay Question:
Write a 2 page typed response (1,000 word minimum) to Zinn’s ideas in the following passage.  Explain the ways in which have you observed or fulfilled any of Zinn’s thoughts.  Use examples from your studies, observations, or personal experiences to support your response.     Actuarial Diversity Scholarship

    The Actuarial Diversity Scholarship promotes diversity through an annual scholarship program for Black/African American, Hispanic and Native North American students. This program recognizes and encourages academic achievements by awarding scholarships to full time undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a degree that may lead to a career in the actuarial profession.

    Eligibility criteria:  

    • Each applicant must have at least one birth parent who is a member of one of the following minority groups: Black/African American, Hispanic, Native North American.
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), emphasis on math or actuarial courses.
    • Entering college freshmen must have a minimum ACT math score of 28 or SAT math score of 600.
    • Intent on pursuing a career in the actuarial profession.

    Boys & Girls Club of Venice

    The Boys & Girls Club of Venice offers many scholarship opportunities to those who have been involved in their programs or volunteered. Applications are available in the Teen Services Office and online.

     

    Wise Family Scholarship Foundation

    The foundation awards four annual $2,000 merit based scholarships each June.

    Scholarship awarded to a local high school senior who demonstrates effort, determination, and a commitment towards working and partnering with other cultures for positive goals.

    Compassion and Choices of Northern CA Essay Contest

    Prizes to be awarded – $1,000 for First Place, $500 for Second Place, and $250 for Honorable Mention. Students must write answer the essay question: Why should I have an advance directive by the time I turn 18? (No more than 1,500 words, 12-point Times New Roman font and single-spaced.)

        Eligibility criteria:    

        College-bound students in grades 11 and 12 during the 2011-2012 academic year.

    Entertainment Software Association Foundation Scholarship Program
     

    In 2007 the ESA Foundation established a scholarship program to assist women and minority students who are pursuing degrees leading to careers in Computer & Video Game Arts. In 2009 we extended this opportunity to graduating high school seniors and doubled the amount of awards granted from 15 to 30. Up to 30 scholarships of $3,000 each will be awarded annually, 15 to graduating high school seniors and 15 to current college students.

    Shawn Carter Foundation

    All high school seniors, undergraduate (2yr or 4yr) college students, and students at vocational or trade schools are eligible to apply. All applicants must be US citizens, between the ages of 18-25, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. The application must be completed by the published deadline date.

    Joe Francis (1933-1994), founder of The Barbers Corporation was the quintessential self-made man who never forgot his early struggles and continuously looked for ways to help others find opportunities in the salon business. To memorialize his life and achievements, The Joe Francis Haircare Scholarship Foundation was established in 1994. To be considered for this scholarship, applicant must be currently applying for entrance into Cosmetology/Barber School, OR actively enrolled in a Cosmetology/Barber program.

    The AORN Foundation awards scholarships to students who are pursuing a career in nursing and perioperative nursing.

    Development Fund For Black Students in Science and Technology

    The Development Fund for Black Students in Science and Technology (DFBSST) is an endowment fund which provides scholarships to African-American undergraduate students enrolled in scientific or technical fields of study at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

    Akash Kuruvilla Memorial Scholarship Fund

    The Akash Kuruvilla Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to one male and one female, upon maintaining GPA requirements and enrollment as a full time student. It is open to any field of study. The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellence in leadership, diversity, integrity and academia. The selection committee will also base its decisions on financial need, content of character and the candidates’ potential to make an impact on his/her peers and community.

    AWG Minority Scholarship For Women

    This new program encourages young minority women to pursue an education and later a career in the geosciences. It provides financial aid and matches the student with a mentor in the same field who will offer guidance and support. This exchange will enhance the student’s experience and provide a view of the world ahead.

    Automotive Hall of Fame Scholarship
    For students who indicate a sincere interest in an automotive related career, this program has specific scholarships for incoming freshmen and upper-level undergraduate students. All of the scholarships are based on financial needs and with the usual minimum GPA requirement of 3.0.

    Beat the Odds Scholarship Program
    The Beat the Odds scholarship program honors high school sophomores that are working hard to overcome tremendous obstacles in their personal lives, demonstrate academic achievement, and give back to their community. Students must be nominated or seek nomination for the Beat the Odds scholarship program by/from a teacher, counselor, caseworker, or other adult who can speak to the following: his/her character, academic achievement, commitment to social justice issues/community, and the tremendous odds he/she beats every day.

    FOR JUNIORS


    The QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship

    Designed for high school juniors who have shown outstanding academic ability despite facing economic challenges. Most College Prep Scholars come from households earning less than $60,000 annually and have experienced long-term economic hardship.Students must be juniors who are planning to apply to college during the fall of their senior year. Some factors used to assess academic ability include:

    • Grade Point Average (GPA): Both unweighted and weighted GPAs are considered.
    • Class rank: The majority of awardees are in the top 5 to 10% of their class.
    • Rigor of high school curriculum
    • Standardized test scores
    • Essays
    • Teacher Recommendation
