Green Dot CA Hosts Annual Mock Interviews for Students Through Help of 100+ Local Volunteers
The event provided students with the opportunity to refine interview skills for college and career

June 11, 2021 (LOS ANGELES, CA) -- Green Dot Public Schools California’s annual mock interviews were held on April 28th/29th and May 5th/6th virtually with Oscar de la Hoya Ánimo Charter High School and Ánimo Leadership Charter High School students. Over 100 professional volunteers spent about 3 hours with more than 250 students practicing and refining their job interview skills.

“We pivoted to a virtual format this year, allowing professionals from across the country to give students the benefits of their experience and expertise.” says Douglas Weston, VP of Development at Green Dot. “Some of the most senior executives in the nation and a wide variety of employees from our best American companies joined our Board members and Ambassadors in an incredible show of support for young people and their dreams. It is a wonderful event that our community of students and teachers look forward to every year.”

Green Dot staff were present in each break out room to ensure safety and support for all participants. Professional volunteers came from major organizations including the Los Angeles Rams, Netflix, Hensel Phelps, Snapchat, FedEx, Lionsgate, and Dell, Inc. This event provides students with the opportunity to refine their interview techniques as they pursue their next steps in life, such as college and work.

“The Los Angeles Rams are proud to partner with an organization such as Green Dot Public Schools who is doing critical work to help transform public education for all students,” said Molly Higgins, Rams Vice President of Community Affairs and Engagement. “Our organization has an ongoing commitment to mentor deserving students in the greater LA Community and we hope that the mock interviews and simulated job experience provided them with skills, knowledge, confidence and encouragement.”
