Dear Locke Classified Staff,
As a 2007-2008 classified employee of Locke, you are eligible to return to Locke next year when it converts into a charter school under Green Dot governance. This bulletin will provide you with information on the placement process and expectations for working at a Green Dot school.
An information session for all classified employees will take place on Monday, February 11, 2008 at 3:15pm in Room A-12. Representatives from the Green Dot Human Resources Department will be available to answer questions.
Placement for Special Education Classified Employees:
It is anticipated that Green Dot and LAUSD will jointly serve students with special needs during the 2008/2009 school year. Classified employees who provide services to students in SDC and CBI classes will be selected by and remain under the supervision of LAUSD. Classified employees who provide services to students in RSP classes should apply for placement through Green Dot.
Placement for Maintenance and Operations Employees:
It is anticipated that Green Dot will contract with LAUSD to provide maintenance and operations services at Locke for the 2008/2009 school year. Maintenance and Operations employees will be selected by and remain under the supervision of LAUSD.
All classified employees interested in remaining at Locke under the supervision of Green Dot for 2008/2009 should follow the process below:
- Submit an application form to Room A-12 by February 29, 2008. Application forms will be available at the information session on February 11.
- "Interview" with Green Dot principals for job placement.
- Job placement will occur on a rolling basis.
Because current Locke classified job descriptions do not exactly match Green Dot job descriptions, placements may differ slightly from current job responsibilities. Green Dot will make its best effort to place classified employees in similar positions. Job descriptions will be available at the information session on February 11.
Classified employees who will not be working under LAUSD will be employed directly by Green Dot. Green Dot classified employees are at-will employees and work under Green Dot work rules. However, Green Dot classified employees have begun the process of unionizing as a CTA affiliate and are working towards a negotiated contract.
