"Parental Involvement" Means Being Involved at Home

As our children mature into adults, we as parents begin to give them more independence. Unfortunately, because of our busy lives, we sometimes give children too much independence when it comes to their education. The best way to support your child and ensure his/her academic success is to stay involved at home. In fact, Ánimo Venice believes that community service means more than just fundraising or stuffing envelopes for the school office. We believe that the best "community service" happens at home; we award parents community service hours for staying involved in their child's education at home.

Here are some ideas for staying involved:

  • Check your child’s agenda book for assignments.
  • Provide your child the necessary time and quiet space at home to do homework.
  • Check the school website for information.
  • Call or come by the school to visit.
  • Don’t believe your child when he or she says, “I don’t have any homework.”

Remember to log your community service hours on the "Off-Campus Service Hours " form.

For information on school policies and procedures, please review the Student/Parent Handbook.
