Yes, please call the office for your route and bus.
Do we wear uniforms?
Yes, all students are required to wear
dark or navy blue, collared shirts on top, and khaki-colors
pants or skirts for the bottom. However, are allowed free-dress
days depending on your behavior and your academic performance.
Also, you do not have to buy Ánimo shirts; as long as
your clothes have the correct color combination, then
you will not be penalized.
Who picked the school colors?
Mr. Steve
Barr, the person who founded Green Dot and the Ánimo
schools. Mr. Barr wanted to use the University of California's
school colors, so he chose blue and gold. All Ánimo
students wear a dark blue top with a khaki-colored bottom,
not just Ánimo Venice students.
The school is currently located near Los Angeles Internation Airport.
We will move back to Venice once the construction is complete.
School begins August 25th, the week before
Labor Day. We start a week earlier than LAUSD because our spring break is 2 weeks.
What time does school start and end?
Will we have PE class? What if we want a dancing
or surfing elective class?
We won't have a PE class for 9th graders.
To see a list of the 9th grade courses, go to the section
called " academic
program" under " About
Ánimo Venice." Now, if you want a dancing or
surfing elective, then it's up to you and your friends.
Once the school year starts, we will explain to you how
to petition for a class that you want.
Will Ánimo Venice have sports teams?
Again, it is up to the students. If the
students want a baseball team or soccer team, then they
must petition for it. If the petition is approved, then
the school administration will do everything it can to
make it happen.
